League Information
The Four Hills brings together the top ski jumpers in the world for two weeks of jumping on four of the toughest hills in the world. The tournament begins in Germany at Oberstdorf (Dec 30) and Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Jan 1) before moving to Austria for Innsbruck (Jan 4) and Bischofshofen (Jan 6).
Rules
- Select a squad of 5 jumpers for the tournament using the entry form. These are your jumpers for the entire tournament (no substitutions).
- Points scoring is simple - the points awarded are those scored by the jumpers in the tournament.
- The list of jumpers will be released on December 19, with a registration deadline of December 29.
Four Hills Format
-
Qualifying for each round is held one day prior to the competition proper. The top 15 in the world cup rankings automatically qualify along with the top 35 in qualifying.
-
In the first jump of each round, the 50 jumpers are drawn into pairs. The higher-scoring jumper in the first jump goes through to the second jump. 5 lucky losers (the top 5 jumpers who lost in round 1) also go through to round 2.
-
In jump 2, jumpers go in reverse order according to their score in jump one. The scores from jumps one and two are added together to give an overall score.
-
The scores from each of the four hills (8 jumps in total) are added together to determine the overall standings. It is this points total that will be used in Scrap Heap Fantasy Four Hills.
Points Scoring
-
In each jump, a score for style and a score for distance are added together.
-
Style - 5 judges each give a mark out of 20 to the nearest 0.5 points. The highest and lowest marks are discarded to give a score out of 60.
-
Distance Points - Each hill has a "K-point", a calculation line from which distance points are calculated. A jumper landing exactly on the calculation line scores 60 points. 1.8 points are added for every metre over the line, whilst 1.8 points are deducted for every metre short of the line.
