The four live draft sports (Baseball, NFL, NBA and NHL) are split in to four divisions of up to 16 teams. To prevent the commissioner having to enter four teams (one per division) in to each sport, and thus enhancing the chances of winning it is necessary for three teams to be 'co-managed' by the Commissioner and a manager in the league.
The system has been in place since the 2002/3 NBA season, but with people changing divisions from year to year, new managers must be found to co-manage at the start of each season.
Summary of the co-management system
After Yahoo have opened up each of the sports for the coming season, the commissioner will establish the division, its settings, draft time and commissioner's note using the Commissioner's Yahoo ID.
Once the leagues have been established, the Commissioner will invite a manager to 'co-manage' the team.
The team manager uses their own personal login to accept the invite to co-manage the team.
The commissioner uses the login to process trades and collect results and stats to post on the Scrap Heap website.
The co-manager is in sole charge of drafting and updating the team throughout the season. The co-manager does not have access to the Commissioner Tools or the ability to process pending trades.
Actions the commissioner should not perform:
Adjustment of roster in terms of daily updates, adds / drops or trades unless specifically asked to do so by the team manager.
Message posts claiming to be from the manager of the team. All commissioner posts should include "(from commish)" in the subject line.
Actions the team owner should not perform:
Process or veto trades once accepted by both teams involved.
Post messages claiming to be from the commissioner.
Alter any locks (eg. team names) or any league settings.
Delete or amend the Commissioner's Note.
